I like analogies as much as anyone else, but I'm wondering about keeping the forum behavior request to something simple like: "Please think about how you want people to act on your own site and forum, and act accordingly." And continue with "Please don't bump, or post large chunks of code. You could find the answer to your question faster if you search the forum or the codex before posting."

Or would that approach be too easily brushed off and clicked through?

And what about a wiki to hammer out the new forum rules, format, moderator tips, etc.?
