Thank you both SK and Otto...

In my mind the problem was still the same, the problem stems from how 
hard WP or whatever has to work in order to find the correct content. Ok 
yes, i misunderstood what does the work (and how that's done), 
importantly though i think i was on the right track (kind of)..

Thanks for clarification, the explanation makes perfect sense, and it's 
quite possible Otto's comments were what i originally read, but given 
that this is in some ways beyond my scope of knowledge currently, i 
didn't expect to be perfectly acurrate in my understanding..

Ironically i'm using %postname% for my permalinks, but then i do only 
have about 4 posts and 3 pages, so it's hardly something "for me" to 
worry about.. My WordPress usage is primarily offline, so i don't 
generally have to worry about such things, i do however have a huge 
curiousity for understanding how things work.... :)

Thanks again, i'm sure i'm not the only one to benefit from the information.
