May i make a suggestion if you're starting a draft on a refreshed set of
rules and/or forum guidelines etc etc.. (i'm all for the idea), could
you draft it on the codex, so anyone else that wants to get involved,
make suggestions, etc... will have an easy medium for getting involved
with the process.
It's a potentially large and maybe long winded process, and rather then
bounce numerous emails back and forth i'd rather utilise the codex
system to handle the discussions, and additionally anyone with a forum
account can participate if they choose. Or not.. it's a suggestion
nothing more..
I also agree that we should try to highlight the positive information,
and draw focus away from the negatives of laying down the law as you put
it(i thought this when reading the rules myself).
There's also alot to be learnt from looking at other communities, i
believe it's important we present information in a manner that shows
it's there to aid users in being a positive presence in the community,
and not simply dictate conformity. That's not to say we shouldn't make
clear distinctions of acceptable behaviour, but i'm more interested in
how we present the information, rather then the actual information
itself at this point(i'll happily share my thoughts on anything drafted
though).
I don't personally find this information very welcoming.
