Which, being both an adult and a moderator, you resist the urge to
participate in. Correct?

Bueller?

A majority of members will not read docs, or perform a search, or take
instruction on how to find the information they need. They want to do
something or fix a problem or be provided with a solution, and that's
what they are focused on. When it comes to forum users *in general*,
especially of the sort of support forum we are discussing, they will
not know the rules, nor care about them. Even after you firmly (but
nicely!) inform them.

Nor should we expect them to know, or even care. You see, the forum
rules are not for them. They're for us. They are a guide to help know
what to do in a situation. When someone posts multiple times on some
topic we know it's fine to delete the extras. When they 'bump' a post
we know to step in and explain there are *better* ways to go about it.

Continue to do what you can to inform members on how to use the forums
'correctly,' but keep in mind that (again in general) they will always
need to be informed of the rules.

We are the ones who should *know* them.
