[wp-forums] Status of work on BBpress/Forum Titles

There is quite the discussion of things that can be done to alter the
support forums, however I think the real question is what is realistic
and what is not. That is, someone who is on the development side of
things with bbPress to weigh in and say what can and can not easily be
done. I have looked at the bug tracker and know that attempts are
being made to fix issues such as the time stamp problems, and I for
one think that would be a far more useful tool than a moniker. Just to
be specific, when you look at your profile, and see the threads posted
in, it is showing not the elapsed time since last post correctly. A
perfect example would be the thread podz started for the this mailing
list. As of -4 GMT 7/1, it was showing last activity 10 hrs ago,
when in reality looking at time stamps on posts, it had been .5 hrs
ago. I'm not sure if the intention was only to show since the members
last activity, or any activity. Both would be ideal, as that would
easily allow you to know if someone has posted in the thread since
last visit.
Regarding titles - I intend on continuing to answer questions as
long as either I know the answer, know where to find it, or someone
asks me to stop. IMO, to give "volunteer" status to particular
members would undermine the concept of volunteer. Unless a clear
explanation was given about the title, I would be afraid of someone
not offering up solutions or insight simply because they didn't think
they could, not being a "volunteer" and all. If you want to give
monikers denoting continued and prolonged activity, how about "forum
rat", or some kitschy tag. But again, that comes down to status
symbolism, something I understood in the beginning as to be the
antithesis of WP support forums.
Sorry for the long winded post, this is my first real foray into this
aspect of WP, and though I'm apprehensive, I am so enamored with the
platform, I want to continue to see its growth and development, as
well as learn as much about it as possible.
