It was my understanding that there would be two parts:
Part 1 - The Pastebin - The in progress, temporary place to put code
snippets that a user needs help with, or in responce to a query (how do
I...?). Then once a particular script was marked as being "yeah, that's
it!" and if it's usefull to others as a real-world example on how to do
something (say display child pages of the currently displayed page),
then it could be moved to (and this is the Part 2 part) the Codex-bin,
labeled and linked to from a main, "Here's all the code snips we've
got" and from (hopefully) the wp_list_pages Codex page.
Now someone dropping on the Codex looking at the wp_list_pages page,
will see a link "View Code Snips using wp_list_pages".... they click
it, and get a list of related snips.
Conversely, some one visiting the Codex will probably see a section on
"Real world Code Snips"... they click the link and are presented with a
list of all the code snips we have in the Codex (separate from what's
in the PasteBin)... I'm assuming that since the snips will be taggable,
that they can be grouped by relevance, category, wp function, or what
ever.
I see value in having both. A pastebin for those 30 second jobs where we
need to sneak a peak at someone's .htaccess file, and a code snip
collection that shows 12 different ways you can set up your .htaccess
file.
But maybe I've got the wrong impression.
