[wp-edu] Latex support in WordPress?

Akismet is a service that they have every right to charge for. It takes servers and people to run it. If we don't like it, we should find an alternative rather than wishing they'd donate free access to their service just because we're in education.

So... What are the viable alternatives? Ideally something that blocks both comment-spam and splog-blog signups?

Which is highway robbery given how most of these wordpress installs are run at universities. The conflation of businesses and universities by the wordpress community is one of its greatest blind spots in my opinion.

Also, were there any deals made with CUNY we should know about?
