Tangently linked to development, but 
http://codex.wordpress.org/Themes/Theme_Compatibility and the linked 2.9 
page.  These "compatibility lists" AKA spam magnets have been phased out 
since the introduction of the theme and plugin broswers, but we could 
maybe do with something in there instead around the general issues of 
compatibility.
