I've no idea.

Here's an idea:  Strike the "delete" instructions from the official
upgrade guide.  Then everyone who's complaining about the verbosity of
the instructions should commit to spend a week on the support forums
helping people when the next upgrade comes out.

If you're objecting to the instructions, then please commit to helping
deal with the consequences of their removal.  Thanks.
