Well, I think we need a little more than some documentation about this
thing. After four days of poking at this, I went back to the basics and
found that the criminal kicking off the PHP session errors was NOT the
plugins at all, but a single link to a category on my site:
<a title="Thoughts on Life" href="index.php?cat=7">Journal Thoughts</a>
I'm waiting for help on the forums to clarify what's wrong with the link to
trigger the PHP session errors, but it just goes to prove that the little
things will make you crazy, and if it got me, then it will get others and we
need to document this in a way that people can find the information.
I'd like to see a Troubleshooting section that deals with validation errors
beyond just "Why doesn't my XHTML page validate". Very simple to help
people target if it is WordPress, HTML, PHP, or CSS that is the problem. It
might be beyond the scope of the Codex, but something that will help problem
solve these things in the future.
I am debating about an article about Validation in general, culled from the
article on Contests
(http://codex.wordpress.org/User:Lorelle/Designing_Themes_for_Contests), so
that might be a good place to add a little troubleshooting help. I do have
an article in my user area on Troubleshooting CSS problems
(http://codex.wordpress.org/User:Lorelle/CSS_Troubleshooting) as well as CSS
Browser Bugs
(http://codex.wordpress.org/User:Lorelle/CSS_Fixing_Bugs_and_Hacks), so
another on Validation and Troubleshooting Validation would be easy...unless
someone is working on it already.
