I love all the contests of late, and it got me thinking...I know DANGER....I
don't know how to write plugins, and I've been way too busy redoing my
entire site to mess with creating themes, and there must be other people out
there who are like me but want to be a part of the competitive fun.
With the upcoming release of the Lessons in the Codex, can we talk about the
possiblity of having a "WordPress Lesson" tip or trick contest? NOT NOW,
but in a couple of months to keep the contest energy flowing and enthusiasm
going. The month of May might be good. Or aim for something during the
summer or fall.
I don't know how all these contests get going, finding sponsors and all, or
really how this would work - hosted on an individual's site or on the Codex
or in the Forums, but here are my current thoughts, if others think this is
a neat idea.
We'd have to come up with some basic criteria that basically says that the
tip or lesson must be of benefit to the majority of WordPress users, should
related to a WordPress feature, should not include hacks or plugins,
highlight template tags, template usage, conditional tags, the Loop, and so
on. Keeping it very WordPress specific, using criteria like I started in my
http://codex.wordpress.org/User_talk:Lorelle discussion about the Lessons.
All applicable entries would be included in the Lessons section of the
Codex.
This is just an idea and the start of a brainstorm, but it would help to
make the Codex more "visible" to the WordPress Community, increase the
benefit to users, and give non-tech folks a chance to compete in something
related to WordPress.
Whatcha think?
