Comment:

 Bonus points: readability.

 In terms of performance, I tried to measure running the test suite 10
 times with and without the patch. Saw no significant differences. However,
 it seems to be the common knowledge that they're faster, and use less
 memory.

 Still need to deprecate lambda.php.
