 Verified the patch locally. The root cause is clear - data-bp-
 list="members" in the friends template causes JavaScript to use bp-members
 session storage key instead of bp-friends, so filter changes don't persist
 correctly.

 The fix is simple and correct: just change to data-bp-list="friends".

 Nice debugging work @pratiklondhe on your first contribution! The session
 storage key analysis was spot-on.
