 @dcavins If we may need to improve the way to generate these links from
 the Site Editor navigation menu, I confirm using the WP Legacy menu
 Administration screen for regular themes, you can add log-in/log-out menu
 already:

 You just need to make sure to activate the "BuddyPress Member" screen
 element:

 Once done you get new choices from this "BuddyPress Member" panel and you
 can select from the Logged-in tab the log out link:

 And from the Logged-out tab the log in link:

 This way when not logged in users reach the website, they get this menu
 item:
