 I can imagine some users will want to absolutely keep a classic BuddyPress
 to preserve compatibility with third party plugins they know will not do
 the needed changes to support the BP Rewrites API.

 A possible way to achieve this is to activate the BP Classic plugin -
 which only runs if BuddyPress is 12.0.0 or up - in anticipation of this
 upgrade while BuddyPress is still relative to branch 11.0. This means, we
 need to make sure our upgrade routine won't run if the BP Classic plugin
 is active.

 I'll do the needed checks/tests to be sure of this asap.
