 Hi @shawfactor  Sure we can put a filter around the setting being added to
 the form. You can also filter the `bp_view` cap to be sure that it always
 returns true to prevent any visibility code from taking effect (it would
 be a one-liner).

 You are correct that the current version of the functionality lays the
 groundwork for future, more granular control, but, with this release, just
 makes the community part of a web site inaccessible to anonymous users. If
 you have great ideas for how to manage granular control in a way that
 avoids edge cases, please contribute to this ticket.
