Team,
I’ve seen the broader discussion regarding adding features to BuddyPress
to add support for third party social networking. I think it’s mostly been
expressed in terms of fediversse i.e. activitypub (mastodon)
I’m keen to assist as there are obvious synergies not only with BuddyPress
but more broadly with the LocalHero project concept I’ve working on.
If there is already a ticket please let me know
More broadly my staring ideas are:
1. Any integration should incorporate the indieweb as well. It’s low
hanging fruit
2. Essential to all this is the concept of activity status. Right now by
default all BuddyPress activity is public. This can be toggled to private
via plugins. The indieweb and fediverse require more flexibility. Ie the
ability to set activities to public or private or indeed vary that
depending on the user capability and/or friendship status
I think there is huge upside here, potential even as part of a
facebook/Twitter killer movement if this can be integrated well
