 Hi there,

 I agree to bump the core version.

 * I can confirm it doesn't break anything.
 * We don't use any deprecated functions.

 8709.patch looks good to me but I believe there are two missing parts:
 1.  disallowed keys backward compatibility for before 5.5, I think we
 don't need it anymore
 2.  dropping support of deprecated version of PHPMailer
