 Thanks @niftythree for trying again. It made me look deeper into the issue
 and understand why it wasn't solved for you and why I thought it was
 solved for me.

 On my testing I was always testing the first message of the thread which
 is the thread ID. But when you are testing another message of the thread
 it was failing. I've updated the PR and this time I believe it should
 really fix the issue, no matter which message of the thread was unread
 before viewing the thread.

 Could you test one last time the
