 I've just noticed WordPress Core now includes a
 [https://core.trac.wordpress.org/browser/trunk/README.md README.md] and a
 [https://core.trac.wordpress.org/browser/trunk/SECURITY.md SECURITY.md]
 files into trunk. I think it would be a good idea to do the same. The
 README.md would be a nice place to explain how to contribute to
 BuddyPress.
