 I am wondering if this simple on/off filter is the best choice here. If
 you want to disable admin notifications you stumble
 [https://wordpress.stackexchange.com/a/236301 upon this solution] but if
 BuddyPress is active, this is not sufficient. You also need to change the
 filter from this patch to false. This is not very intuitive.
