Comment:

 @boonebgorges 7774.3.patch is my first attempt to convert your idea. I've
 added 2 "helpers" to check the activity is consistent with active filter
 and current search terms. Then there are 2 objects that corresponds to the
 "post in" select box (post in my profile = user, post in a group = group).

 I've tested it and it seems to work as expected.

 The only thing i have a doubt on are helper function names :)
