Comment:

 Anything is possible, but working on this area would involve larger work
 on the entire cropping step and customisation controls (which would be
 good things to do -- it's just a lot more work, and will only get done if
 a contributor feels like working on these areas).

 Incorrect rotation of upload images does sound like something we could
 treat as a bug report. I'm not sure if it's a WordPress Media thing, or
 something we need to do.

 @eslone99 If you can recreate these mobile uploaded images that do not get
 correctly rotated, can you test those images inside the WordPress Media
 Library, and put them into a blog post, and let me know if they get
 correctly rotated, or not? Thanks.
