Comment:

 I think that most of these object cache issues have been solved since this
 ticket was created. I'm definitely not the only one who's been running BP
 in production with memcached for years without any major hickups. :)
 Therefore I think this ticket can be closed and if issues with the object
 cache surfaces more specific tickets could be opened for them. What do you
 say @DJPaul?
