Comment:

 It looks like you might have altered the email template that is causing
 this problem.

 In the WP admin dashboard, go to the Emails tab and find the "Recipient
 has received a private message" email.

 View the contents of the email and see if you added an inadvertent `http`
 to the "Open the message" link.
