 @sudar Patches are always most welcome, collaboration and contribution is
 the life blood of projects like this.

 As a general rule of thumb I would have said adding hooks for functions
 can never be a bad thing especially if it allows BP to be extended.

 The idea seems sound so I would suggest running up a patch uploading it to
 this ticket and a core committer will review and help the patch along if
 needed.
