Comment:

 The reporter doesn't speak English so here it is his feedback.

 He imported into bbPress 8k users from Ning. The users could log in but
 they couldn't show up in the BuddyPress Members Directory because there
 were not activated.

 So his main goal was to activate the users so that they could show up in
 the Members Directory.


 @DJPaul explained in Slack the reason why BuddyPress works like that,
 mainly to avoid spam communities.

 I would consider this a wonfix, as there is nothing wrong with BuddyPress.
 The current way it is working seems good, avoid spam is very important in
 a community and making easier to site builders to do that does't seem a
 very good idea.
