Comment:

 I'm going to rename this ticket to more accurately reflect what would have
 to happen to resolve it. I think it's a decent idea (and it's definitely
 possible, in most cases) for BuddyPress to override and provide templates
 for core emails, so I'd like to explore it. It seems appropriate to me
 that BP would handle emails related to registration, even if they're not
 necessarily created by BP. (We already do this for some core emails, after
 all.)

 As for bbPress, it should register its own email types as part of its
 bbPress integration. It doesn't look like a ticket exists yet in bbPress
 Trac, but maybe I missed something.
