 I get what you are saying, but we have users getting confused. They click
 the notification of "3 new messages". Then they read the messages
 themselves (which are marked read) but the corresponding notifications are
 still not marked read. Perhaps it's more an issue that the notifications
 need to get marked read when the corresponding message does?
