 @DJPaul yes, there's no network admin screens for post types.

 I think, in this case, i would simply add an admin menu into the network
 admin > Emails which would redirect to the root blog admin or display a
 page explaining the Emails can be managed from the root blog.

 As you said it's too tricky, i had the same problem for edit-tags and the
 BP Groups Taxo plugin and here's how i did > https://github.com/imath/bp-
