Comment:

 From my little research I have done, it looks like it's going to be very
 hard to do in a cross-platform cross-device cross-client compatible way.
 It probably depends a lot on the Unicode support of a given emoji.

 We need someone who loves emoji AND Unicode AND emails to look into this
 one!
