Comment (by rosyteddy):

 bp-checkins by imath already uses a comment form with an image icon that
 when clicked allows you to upload an image comment. And voila! it also
 shows up in the BP Activity stream.

 So, now you can both upload/attach image in comments as well as show this
 image thumb in BP Activity stream.

 Since the code is already there can it be please re-used with the next
 release in core comments?
