 I've made the changes to that function for a cpt in a BP component and
 everything is still working.
 Including group extensions that use the cpt - sweet.

 It'd be nice to see some other feedback - but I think your patch has
 closed the holes created when the 'the new way of registering post types
 activities' was introduced.
