 BuddyPress only deals with the 'publish' new/old post status to eventually
 add or remove the activity generated by post type activities.

 I know (i've experienced it with one of my plugin) there can be cases
 plugins can need to add an activity for private posts eg: a Groups
 component wishing to attach private activities corresponding to private
 post types (or any other custom status).
