 A similar discussion about it happened on #6460.

 Overall, I like your ideas, BuddyPress lacks a good email system and your
 suggestion seems to apply for both developers and non developers alike.

 My only concern would be about complexity, as I stated on #6460, I like
 Woocommerce way of handling emails, it is simple, developers can apply
 their own styles (not in the customizer), it is still hard to create
 different templates (not related to default but part of Woocommerce) but
 not impossible with some documentation checking.

 But your plan/idea goes beyond that and I applaud you for wishing to take
 BuddyPress to the next level and resolve this long problem with emails.

 Count me in for help. I've had some problems in trying to customize and
 create custom e-mails in BuddyPress recently and would be more willing to
 help in any way to solve this.
