 imath - You have done some really great work on this issue, but I'm
 leaning toward agreeing with johnjamesjacoby here. It seems late to be
 rushing this into the release, given the changes to core stuff (like the
 bp-core-buddybar.php functions), not to mention the sheer scope of the
 improvements. I have lots of questions about how the user experience is
 going to be here - how blog_public interacts with this stuff, how the idea
 of "subscribing" to a blog interacts with blog membership, how we'll
 degrade gracefully with pre-theme-compat themes, etc - but I don't think
 there's adequate time for review and discussion before going to 2.3 beta.
 My recommendation is that we make this a headline feature for 2.4.
