 I'm adding a new patch that adds tests. The tests check the `$params` as
 passed out of the main filter as well as the html output for both gravatar
 and no-gravatar requests. I'm a little skeptical of the maintainability of
 the gravatar portion of the test, since it was necessary to recreate quite
 a bit of code from the original function. Please let me know if there are
 other test cases that you'd like me to cover; I'm happy to write more
 tests.
