Wow thanks Boone! It should definitely be enough for me if you pass it on
in apply filters.
Should I close this issue? Knowing it will eventually be possible to do
this in a clean way is enough for me.
I am not sure I understand your explanation about multisite. Not
contesting that I'm wrong though :) But I saw that in case of multisite it
was passing on the $usermeta to wpmu_signup_user and the
[http://codex.wordpress.org/WPMU_Functions/wpmu_signup_user WordPress
Codex] suggests that it's then stored in the database. Whereas for single
site I don't see how the $usermeta could make it's way into the database.
I did not read the actual code for wpmu_signup_user though, and the info
in the Codex is quitte scarce, so I'm not sure. I guess I have some
reading up to do if I really want to understand the WordPress / BuddyPress
user registration process.
