 Ah, this new patch doesn't work if BP Group Hierarchy is activated. I'll
 look into what is happening, but wanted to update my earlier comment with
 what appears to be the cause of my problems.

 Thanks for working on this. I'm really looking forward to using the new
 system in my plugins.
