Comment:

 > For 2.1, I think that 5552.bp_is_current_component_core.patch is better
 than nothing, and it will be fairly easy to roll back in case we decide to
 go a different direction in the future. So let's go with it.

 I've committed the fix.

 boonebgorges - I'm going to move this to 2.2 due to comment:8 and
 comment:10.  Or feel free to close altogether and create a new ticket.
