 Yes you nailed it. Indeed the naming was what was confusing me and the
 WordPress Codex does nothing to reduce this confusion. Now I get your
 explanation.

 Thanks for taking the time and patience to spell it out for me. I am a
 person that wants to know everything up to the lowest level, *and* I am
 very stubborn. It's a combination that can be very annoying to others  :)
