 Thanks very much for the detailed bug report and steps to reproduce.

 I've managed to confirm the behavior you've described. I dug into it a
 bit, and it's fairly clear that this is a bbPress issue. I've opened a
 ticket on their tracker
 https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/2327#ticket and I'm going to
 close this one in favor of that one. Please feel free to add yourself as a
 watcher over there, and thanks again for reporting this issue so
 thoroughly.
