 When the frontpage is set to use a static page, in my case a page to show
 members - previewing new pages that aren't published only shows the
 homepage.

 I'm running the latest stable WordPress and BuddyPress, with some plugins
 and a child theme of the default. Changing the frontpage back top showing
 latest posts seems to fix this problem.

 Is there anything I should do
