 This is a bug. None of the codex fixes to include using bp-custom.php
 work.
 the code says what it should and displays as it should.
 Still every time someone clicks on any of the my account links in the
 buddybar, they are taken to the page on their own site which does not have
 the social network.

 this issue began after the recent update.
