Comment:

 Just loaded this up on a Windows 7 ultimate VM and can't duplicate. Some
 changes went into BuddyPress trunk that might alleviate some of these
 issues. It sounds like maybe there is something else mucking up your
 installation. If you could turn WP_DEBUG on and see what the errors are,
 would be really helpful.

 Closing this in the meantime as 'worksforme.'
