Comment:

 I have recently had a report that installing BuddyPress 1.5.x on a clean
 install with a memcached backend; after completing the first screen, user
 lost all priviledges to view BP settings. I haven't been able to test this
 yet, as I don't have a memcached server running in my dev environment.
