 The guys at BuddyPress Media http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins
 /buddypress-media/ have quickly created a more user-centric solution with
 less breast-beating than the guys at BuddyPress Album
 https://code.google.com/p/buddypress-media/
 http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-album/ And they have done do
 without questioning BuddyPress' architectural choices.

 But it would be nice to see this in the core as basic media capabilities
 would be useful for most folks.
