 I know this is going to get more iteration, but I noticed that you still
 have a few "bbp_" references in an option and some of the phpdoc.

 When I implemented theme compat. in one of my own plugins, I took this
 option out the UI. I couldn't see a valid use case for it. It seemed like
 a way to let people choose which compat. pack to use, which I found
 conceptually similar to the Appearance > Themes screen. I don't think we
 should provide a UI for this option, but I assume you had some use cases
 in mind when you built this for bbPress. I'd love to learn a little more
 about the idea behind the option.
