 Thanks for the additional info.

 - Have you verified that the "random" user listed here (Noax) can actually
 view the message when logging in? That is - is this a bug with the message
 being sent to the wrong people, or a bug in the code that displays
 recipients? (Because of the blank space, I suspect the latter, which is at
 least a less serious issue.)
 - If you've modified core files, please restore them to their original
 content, and see if this bug clears itself up.
 - Please give it a test with the bp-default theme, in order to verify that
 this is not a theme-related problem.
