 At the moment buddypress sends the admin an e-mail about a new user. The
 new user will also receive a mail with the activation link.

 What I'd like to see is that there's an option within buddypress that
 allows the admin to hold new users for approval. When the admin approves
 of the new user, the user will receive an e-mail with the activation link.
 Otherwise he/she won't.

 This plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-registration-options/
 used to do this process, but is old and broken with current versions.
 For small communities this would be a great option, since it will
 permanently stop any spammers from getting in and only allow real
 community members to sign up.
 All other major community engines support new user moderation as far as I
 know, so why not buddypress?
